As an avid sailor, I appreciate August more than any other month. Most inland lakes are warm at last, and the pleasant breeze helps contribute to a fabulous summer day. I like to take my catamaran out for a relaxing sail, but sometimes my family has other ideas. My son is particularly boisterous, and the sailboat’s slow pace isn’t always enough to hold his attention.

A remote control boat is more his speed. He likes to bring a small RC boat along for the ride and unleash it over the tranquil surface of the lake. Every once in a while the model boat zips out of range and we have to “come about” in order to retrieve it. Still, any excuse I can get to share quality family time with my son on the lake is good enough for me.
