Try Something New

It seems like kids these days never want to play outside. When I was growing up it would have been unheard of for a young person to stay inside, sitting on the couch all day when it was sunny outside. But these days some parents seem to have given up. No longer do kids get the fresh air they need. Instead, they sit inside all day playing video games.Children who are interested in video games also tend to interested in other technological gadgets. In one last attempt to get your child outside try getting him excited about remote control cars. Often kids respond well to activities that their parents can do with them.

Battery Chargers Can Prevent Pollution

Most people don’t know just how bad the disposal of batteries is for the environment. The average person throws out about eight batteries per year. When a parent buys his child a remote control boat, he probably isn’t thinking of all the pollution the batteries can cause. These days modern technology has afforded us many benefits like battery chargers. An RC battery charger, for example, can deflect some of batteries’ negative impact on the environment. Here’s what happens to batteries when their thrown away:

~They pollute lakes and streams as the metals vaporize into the air when burned.
~Contribute to the heavy metal that potentially may leach from solid waste landfills.
~Expose the environment to lead and acid.
~Contain strong corrosive acids.

If you have spent any time around Model Aircraft Flying fields, you have noticed the large movement towards 3D Flying. An equally large movement is towards 3D flying with Electric Powered Airplanes. The challenge of flying 3D aerobatic maneuvers close to the ground is part of the challenge of this type of flying. One of the things that I noticed about the 3D pilots was that it is attracting many of youth to this great RC Hobby.

I just started to fly some 3D maneuvers with an EP Plane called the Kitman. The Kitman is a 43.3 inch wingspan plane that weights only 17.5 oz. ready to fly. It seems that it is very important to have a very light plane with lots of power if you want to really do 3D.  Some of the maneuvers I have been able to accomplish are the Hover, Elevator, and even Knife edge, and some I don’t know if they are named yet!

I have found the Kitman to be a strong, well built and very light plane. Following the recommendations of AirLandSeaHobbies, I was able to get all the items needed to complete this plane and experiment with 3D flying. Give 3D flying a try, It has been a challenge and will keep challenging even the very best RC pilots.
