Racing My Remote Control Boat

I’ve been sailing small vessels since my teenage years, when I learned to operate a small Sunfish. When a friend suggested I enhance the experience by getting into remote control boats as well, I didn’t know the first thing about the hobby. After doing a bit of research, I discovered that there are two very different types of RC boats. First, there are miniature sailboats and yachts, which are intended for leisurely use.

It’s the other type of electric RC boat that really appealed to me, though. I’ve always wanted to own a high-speed motor boat, and the remote controlled version has allowed me to live vicariously through the tiny model. I’ve customized and optimized the boat to perform better during races, and I like to challenge my buddies to friendly competitions on the high seas.

A Story of Two Boats

A Story of Two BoatsAs an avid sailor, I appreciate August more than any other month. Most inland lakes are warm at last, and the pleasant breeze helps contribute to a fabulous summer day. I like to take my catamaran out for a relaxing sail, but sometimes my family has other ideas. My son is particularly boisterous, and the sailboat’s slow pace isn’t always enough to hold his attention.

A remote control boat is more his speed. He likes to bring a small RC boat along for the ride and unleash it over the tranquil surface of the lake. Every once in a while the model boat zips out of range and we have to “come about” in order to retrieve it. Still, any excuse I can get to share quality family time with my son on the lake is good enough for me.

If you’re interested in the world of RC vehicles, there are several accessories that you should always have on hand. By having these products, you ensure that can enjoy your day of RC driving uninterrupted. To that end, you’re always going to want to have extra batteries. There’s nothing more depressing than having to leave your exciting day of RC fun to go to the store and buy batteries. Just make sure to check your particular RC vehicle to make sure you have the right kind of batteries.

In a similar vein, your RC boat or RC car might actually run on a rechargeable battery. If that’s the case, always make sure to bring along your battery charger. Also make sure you have a place to recharge. This way, you don’t ever have to lose a significant chunk of time by running back and forth between the store or home in order to get all the products you need to keep your RC products humming along.

electricrcboats-airlandseahobbies.jpgThe hobby of collecting remote controlled toys can be addictive. It is thrilling to see your toys race and gather speed whether on land, air or water. Electric RC boats make for great summertime fun for the whole family. The boats are easy to control and don’t require any special skills to know how to make them move.

While you’re engaged in your big-boy toy, let your kids play with their own little boats. These small RC boats can be played with inside the bathtub or in a backyard kiddie pool. Hear the children’s laughter and excited chatter as they have fun with their small group of maritime fleet.
